The new Apple Tablet may be poised to overtake the Kindle by Amazon

Following the many rumors concerning Apple's soon-to-be-released Tablet (it looks like April 2010), I keep seeing stories of iTunes becoming more a multi-media portal, with much of the emphasis on the digitization of print items, like consumer magazines.

This concept gains even more momentum after reading Brian Caulfield's piece in Forbes.

It appears that Apple is offering publishers more of the margin (reported at 30%) than Jeff Bezos is granting through the Amazon Kindle model.

And there is also much conversation online about the multiple iPhone apps being developed for print vehicles from publishers like Conde Nast and Playboy, just to name two.

Long story short, I think iPhone could just be the salvation of the print industry.
