Google Local Business Center is a good start for your business' search engine optimization effort

So you've started a new business -- or you want to bolster your existing business' profile on Internet search engines. With Google being the undisputed leader in online search (82% at last report), a smart place to start is by registering your business with the Google Local Business Center.

In addition to listing your business location address and phone, your can customize your listing with hours of operation, upload photos and even post specific information -- like your menu, if you own a restaurant.

Even better, Google now has a reporting dashboard with built-in analytics so you can track online visitation.
