Sustainable-products finally turn "green"
I was surprised and concerned when the rollout of environmentally-focused consumer products began to hit the streets a few years ago, only to read marketing forecasts that consumers weren't buying them. Alas, it appears the tide has turned. Ad Age now reports that sustainable-product sales are rising, as the collective consciousness about protecting our environment takes hold. With younger consumers leading the charge, this bodes well for the future of the "green" movement. Seventh Generation sales alone were up 50% in 2008, and up 20% in March 2009 over the same time last year, despite new players entering the space.
